What is Natural Parenting?
Natural parenting, from my point of view, is parenting with a large focus on green-living, old-fashioned living, and Christian values. It is not so much about 'us' being better than 'them' as it is about going above and beyond what society deems 'good enough'. It is growing a garden even when you would rather just run by the local superstore to grab a bag of apples and salad in a bag because it is easier. It is about looking at labels and choosing the most natural, whole food whenever possible. It is about using baby carriers instead of placing a child in a shopping cart or the usual stroller. It is about breast-feeding beyond 6 months, making as much homemade baby food as possible, and carrying that over into all the food you prepare (and yes, you prepare, not buying ready-made products of fast food).
